A NEW MOOD

As the festive season starts to wind down and the Christmas decs return to whichever cubby hole they emerged three weeks prior, I love flicking through the new January issues. From Vogue and ELLE to The Sunday Times Style, there’s always an enlivening spirit that hits you like a tall glass of water after a season of all out exuberance. Against the sequin fuelled glamour of the December issues, January by comparison is a moment of chilled reflection with glossy headlines reading ‘FRESH START’, ‘STYLE REBOOT’, ‘NEW ENERGY’, ‘SPRING FORWARD’. 

In fashion terms, January doesn’t mark the start of a new season (being in the midst of AW18) but there is always a sense of personal reinvention to coincide with a time of new year’s resolutions. So, in an attempt to navigate what can feel like a sartorial hinderland between seasons, I’ve compiled (what my year 7 textiles teacher might refer to as) an annotated ‘mood-board’ looking ahead to the new season but also concentrating on these ideas of renewal.
